Tiranga coconut burfi

INGREDIENTS :

Coconut 3 cups

Milk 500 ml

Milk powder 1 cup

Powdered Sugar 1 cup

Saffron strands Pista (small variety) 1/4 cup

Silver varq 2 sheets

Let’s start the step-by-step process to make tricolour coconut burfi

STEP 1

Heat a pan . Add milk. Give it 1 boil. Add powdered sugar & milk powder. Mix well with the help of a hand whisk.

The mixture will thicken slowly. Keep stirring so the milk does not stick to the bottom of the pan.

Cook the mixture till it leaves the pan. Then switch off the gas. Cool the mix a little. Grease a thali with ghee. Keep aside.

STEP 4

Divide the mixture equally into 3 bowls. In the 1st bowl add green pista powder & cardamom powder.Mix very well.

Keep the 2nd bowl plain and white & add only cardamom powder. In the last bowl add saffron strands mixed in warm milk (10-12 saffron strands mixed in 2 t.sp warm milk) & cardamom powder. Mix all 3 mixtures very well.

Now in the greased thali press the 3 layers 1 by 1, starting with the orange layer , then white one & lastly the green one.

Cool the thali in the fridge for 1 hour. Then cut into desired shape. Slowly remove the pieces on another plate . Garnish with cardamom powder & silver varq. Celebrate Independence Week with Tricolour Coconut Burfi. This Burfi can also be relished in the month of Shravan when many keep fast. The Burfi is very soft & mouth-melting.
