Lapsi: A forgotten heirloom

With this spirit in mind today she has entered into the digital world by uploading her first recipe. She has chosen to share how to make the traditional lapsi. She chose this recipe as she wants to keep traditional and authentic gujrati recipes alive in today’s fast changing world. What better way to keep the recipe alive in this digital world by going digital itself!!

INGREDIENTS

The below mentioned ingredients serves 4 people

  1. Wheat Flour 1 bowl
  2. Jaggery 1/2 bowl
  3. Ghee 1/2 bowl
  4. Oil 1/4th bowl
  5. Water 3/4th bowl
  6. Sugar 1/4th bowl

HOW TO MAKE LAPSI

STEP 1
  1. Boil water in a pot and mix all the jaggery in it.
  2. To this mixture add 1 spoon ghee
STEP 2
  1. Mix oil with the flour and after approximately 2 minutes on slow gas
  2. Add the flour to the boiling water.
STEP 3
  1. Let it cook on slow gas for 5 minutes
Let it cook
STEP 4
  1. Now softly mix this with a belan (rolling pin) cover it
  2. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes on low gas.
Softly mix everything
STEP 5
  1. Now turn off the gas
  2. Put this mixture in a sieve (chaini) and sift it in a way you don’t mash it.
STEP 6
  1. To the sifted mixture add warm ghee and 2 tsp sifted sugar.
  2. Shift it to a serving bowl.
Yummy Lapsi is ready to serve ❀❀
