Thermos Khichdi:

This recipe makes for a comforting and nutritious meal, perfect for carrying on-the-go in a thermos.

Thermos khichdi recipe is given to us by Taru Patel.She had often made this khichdi for her husband who happily carries with him . The best part of this khichdi is that when you open the thermos you get khichdi which is as hot as just made.

Ingredients for Thermos Khichdi

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1/2 cup split yellow lentils (moong dal)
  • 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped (your choice)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 cups water
  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

Method for Thermos Khichdi

Rinse the rice and lentils together under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain and set aside.

keep everything ready like one chopped onion, one green chilly and some masalas as shown clearly in the picture.

Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Let them splutter.

Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook for another minute until the raw smell disappears.

Add the rinsed rice and lentils to the pan. Mix well with the masala mixture.

Pour in 4 cups of water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the pan. Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice and lentils are cooked and the mixture thickens. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Once the khichdi is cooked, turn off the heat and let it cool slightly.

Transfer the hot khichdi to a thermos, close the lid tightly, and let it sit for a couple of hours to allow the flavors to meld together.

Before serving, garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and enjoy your piping hot Thermos Khichdi!

Soft fluffy rava idli or sooji idli tastes delicious with sambar or coconut chutney

.It is a healthy & tasty dish which all age groups like. This recipe is given to us by Shreya Kapil Selarka


ingredients for palak paneer rava idli


2 cup Fine Rava( Semolina)
1/2 cup Curd
1 cup water
1 cup Palak leaves
2 green chilli
1 small pc ginger
5-6 garlic cloves
Salt accordingly
2 tsp oil
1 tsp sugar
1 pouch eno (blue)

For stuffing


100 gm grated paneer
1 cube of grated cheese
2 tsp finely chopped coriander
1 tsp Chilli flakes
1/4 tsp Chaat masala
1/4 tsp black pepper powder
Salt accordingly

step by step method for palak paneer rava idli


Take a bowl, mix rava, dahi, water properly

( add more water if needed to make semi-thick batter)

keep it aside for half an hour.


Blanch palak leaves & grind it to a fine paste with garlic, chilli, and ginger. After half an hour, add palak puree, salt, sugar, and oil to the rava batter & mix well.


For stuffing mix all ingredients properly & make small flat tikkis from it. Tikkis size should be enough to fit in Idli stand.


Boil water in an Idli steamer & add eno to the batter & mix well. Grease Idli plates with oil. Fill Idli plates half, place paneer tikki in the middle & again cover it with batter.

Steam idli for around 10-15 minutes. Once done, remove Idly plates from the steamer & allow it to cool for 2 minutes. Unmould & Serve hot with coconut chutney, tomato garlic chutney or any chutney or ketchup of your choice.

1 cup popped ragi flour
2/3 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup ghee/butter at room temperature
3/4 cup sieved jaggery powder
3-4 tbs milk
1 tsp cardamom powder/cinnamon powder /vanilla essence for flavoring

Method

  1. Mix the flour and flouring powder and keep aside.
  2. Mix ghee and jaggery powder till fluffy. If using vanilla essence, add to this mix.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients and make a dough. Add milk as required to adjust consistency.
  4. Make dough rolls and keep in the fridge for at least 1 hr for soft cookies.
  5. Preheat oven at 180 degrees.
  6. Make small shapes from the cookie dough and arrange them on the baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 15-18 minutes.

Note

  1. Add salt if desired if using ghee. Salted butter already adds salt to the recipe.
  2. You can experiment with the flavors as per your taste.
  3. Add chopped nuts, and nut butter for added texture.

This recipe uses no salt or leavening agent to make it healthier for the kids. They are excellent as is. You may add 3/4 tsp baking powder if desired.

STEPS TO MAKE WEIGHT LOSS RECIPE OF MOOLI PARATHA

STEP 1

Wash 2 medium size reddish with plenty of water, peel it then grate it.

STEP 2

Take a bowl and grated radish, add salt, ginger, ajwain, and pieces of Green Chilli chopped. Now mix and set aside for 10-15

STEP 3

(Note This Method will enhance the flavour of all ingredients so try this way)

STEP 4

Squeeze out the excess water and transfer the radish to another bowl. (do not through water) Add chopped coriander, Pinch black salt, red chilli (optional), and a little dry atta and mix well.

STEP 5

Combine wheat flour, salt, carom seeds and 1 teaspoon oil in a dish Mix well and knead into a soft dough using water which we have Squeeze out from the grated radish, Apply little oil on the dough, cover with a bowl and set aside to rest for 15-20 minutes.

STEP 6

Divide the dough into equal portions. Roll out the parts small puris, add a bit of prepared stuffing in the centre, seal the edges and lightly roll thick parantha.

STEP 7

Heat a tawa. Place your parantha on it and cook it with ghee, till evenly done from both sides. Serve hot.

STEP 1

Pour 1 cup ghee and 2 cups maida into a kadhai.Keep mixing on low flame for 20-25 minutes until it has a light sweet smell.

Take 1 spoon of milk and sprinkle a little kesar into it. Add this saffron milk into the mixture. You can also add mango pulp for extra taste. Add 2 cups of sugar and keep mixing for 5-10 more minutes.
